The Retro Roundtable(LiveStream Review)

Not only do we get some For Loop action this week, we also get a nice little Livestream Review. This one is from the guys at The Retro Roundtable. This was a completely blind viewing of their livestream, meaning, I have never seen these guys before, I don't know who they are, and I have never seen their channel before. With that said, let's get on with this review!

So the first thing that I noticed right off the bat was there were 5 streamers on this same stream. Usually on a Let's Play, (Such as the one I did) it is just one person, with one camera, usually a face-cam, and there you go. There are even live streamers that play retro games which is awesome, but again, they aren't quite like this format. No, this one had 5 streamers. They all had mics set up and were all talking to each other. The next thing that caught my interest was that they were playing an old GameBoy Advance game Metroid Fusion, which I have never played, but I do enjoy the old Metroid games, especially Super Metroid on the Super Nintendo. So the guy in the bottom was the one actually playing, the rest were having talking points about certain video game topics. A lot of topics were about old video game tech, and old video game controllers, etc. They weren't really talking much about the gameplay. It reminded me more of a small-time radio talk show while someone plays games in the background. The stream was on YouTube and also used their donation system. People were sending donations and asking a question, usually a game request, or a video game tech question. Then they would discuss the question together. It was a very interesting way to handle the donations and questions, it seemed like they handled the questions with a lot of care. Overall they kept talking about old video game tech, emulation, and a little bit of gameplay here and there.

I found this stream pretty interesting for all of those reasons. Most Let's Plays focus on one person, either the gameplay, comedy, entertainment, etc. This one stood out because It was 5 people and they seemed to have more of an informational theme to it. If you are into video game tech, or retro games you might be into this, if not, it might be pretty boring to be honest. If you get a chance, check them out at this link for yourself!
